The Emotional Landscape
Awakening Her Truth feels like a breath of fresh air. It carries the quiet, fragile hope that maybe, just maybe, things are finally going to be okay. After years of living in survival mode, this piece captures the moment I exhaled and begin to shift from endurance into enjoyment.
It speaks to the slow process of learning how to be with yourself again – how to trust your own voice and allowing yourself to rest and be creative without guilt. This painting holds space for anyone who never had the safety or time to explore their creativity. For those who had to set that part of themselves aside just to keep going. This painting reminds me that when I am feeling blocked or disconnected from art, it isn’t a personal failure, it is a response to having to suppress the softer parts of myself in order to meet life’s demands.
The Story of Creation
Awakening Her Truth came to life during a pivotal shift in my life. Leaving England and moving to the South of France wasn’t just a change of scenery – it was a reclamation of who I wanted to be. That decision felt right, it was somatic and deeply rooted in a felt sense of alignment. There was a shift in my nervous system and my creativity returned – not out of pressure or expectation, but from a place of instinct and joy. I approached the canvas without trying to impress anyone. I chose colours that felt grounding, familiar and safe. There was no need to prove anything – just a desire to reconnect with myself through painting.
This piece is the result of that quiet shift. It gently asks, “but what if it all goes right?”. It is a quiet honouring of the South of France, a place that breathed ease and softness back into me.
Personal Connection
This painting is deeply connected to a turning point in my journey – stepping away from the pressure to “have it all figured out”. In my twenties, I often felt like I was chasing an invisible checklist. Some of my friends were settling down, others climbing the career ladder or travelling the world. I was constantly asking myself what I should be doing. Eventually, I realised I was asking the wrong question, instead a better question was: what would make me happy?
Awakening Her Truth marks the moment I shopped chasing and started listening. Its not about having all the answers, it is about giving yourself permission to be present, to choose yourself, and to allow life to unfold in unexpected ways. It is a reminder that it is okay to change direction, even if it leads you to somewhere you never planned to go.

To best honour the depth and texture of this piece, warm, focused lighting is recommended, enhancing its tonal richness without creating glare. This painting is more than a visual experience — it is an invitation to connect with one’s own complexity, to embrace the beauty of being human, and to trust the non-linear process of healing. Like art, healing is layered, messy, and ever-evolving — but it is always worth the journey.
